The CBI has increased pressure on the government to provide businesses with a “detailed exit strategy” from England’s second national lockdown amid fears that employers are not being given enough information to plan for the vital Christmas trading period.

The business lobby group added to calls from corporate leaders for at least seven days’ warning of the restrictions that companies will face after the lockdown, which is due to expire on December 2. Businesses needed “forward guidance on what to expect to help businesses protect jobs”, the CBI said, ading that the government must give transparent evidence for any fresh restrictions.
